Thames Valley University have awarded James an honorary professorship.  A university officer told us, “these are given to people who have made an outstanding contribution to their industry, have significant publications and have contributed to the development of subject knowledge”.  He will be asked to promote the University and give the occasional lecture or demo.

This time it’s an Alfa Brera, from a dealership in Bournemouth. 

Could it be in preparation for the new series touring Italy?

BBC Food Personality of the Year

BBC Radio asked listeners to help them celebrate the people working to promote good food in Britain by nominating a favourite chef for their annual award!

Previous winners were Gordon Ramsay & Jamie Oliver, this year, thanks partly to everyone who voted using our link.

Southampton City College - Feb 8th

James presented certificates after spending the afternoon helping catering students to cook some  exquisite canapés from his own special menu for the occasion!

Feb 14th

James cooked up a treat for shoppers in Chesterfield to celebrate the launch of a new home insurance initiative between two local building societies.

Feb 20th

James served up a feast of pancakes with icecream,

chocolate sauce, banoffee sauce and a nautical rum sauce to test the galley facilities onboard a submarine being built at Barrow-in-Furness.

And later he was treated to a ride in a Hawk fighter plane!

Good interview in their new ‘cook’s books’ series.  James talks about Thomas Keller, author of his favourite cookbook, about how he uses the book and about his visit to the chef’s California restaurant. 

All new ground not normally covered in magazine interviews.  Pity they chose to use such an old photo!

March 22nd - Children’s Liver Disease Foundation

350 corporate and City guests attended the Celebrity Chef Gala dinner at the Jumeira Carlton in Knightsbridge, where over £100,000 was raised for the children’s charity.  James and three other top chefs, each designed a course for the dinner.  The dessert course was baked ginger parkin with roasted rhubarb and rhubarb ripple ice-cream.

Fudge in trouble!

Honey and Mustard are two chickens that live next door - or did until Fudge, who’s being trained as a gun dog, got through the garden fence.   Now Mustard is no more and Honey is very poorly! ………But there is an upside to living in the same village as James - you get beautiful little bags of biscotti delivered to your  door on Xmas eve!

Filming, running a cake stall, tutoring students, and a reunion with Christine Baxter, the Home Economics teacher who famously told him “You’ll never ever be a chef”.  Quite a busy couple of days for our boy and his new toy!

Not content with his veggie beds, it seems James is now venturing into the world of meat production, with four highland cattle - “brown ones” - and half a dozen black piggies!  He says he is giving them names like Serano, Iberico, Honey Roast ……...
