JAMES  MARTIN  NEWS-SHEET

While The Forum Is Closed We Shall Be Open

STONYHURST - August 12th

“It was a very entertaining demo and very funny, he definitely knows how to work a crowd.”

“His personality is charming and he is very witty as well as being a fantastic chef.”

“He was hilarious” - “He was wonderful” - “He is brilliant” - “He was looking gorgeous and on fine form”

Just a few of the comments from members of James’s audience in the grounds of this impressive venue, a Roman Catholic boarding school which has provided inspiration for both JRR Tolkien and Arthur Conan Doyle.

Don’t you just love that smile?

DENBY - August 28th

Queuing started at 7.30am!!  Such a crowd turned up to see James that many could not get tickets for either of the demos and had to make do with book signings!

One lady that did get into the first demo with her daughter said “I get the feeling that if I ever see any other chef do a demo it will come as a bit of a disappointment, how can anyone top that.”

Four dishes and 45 minutes later James embarked on a marathon book signing session.

Someone who was attending a live ‘James event’ for the first time said “When he made full eye contact with me at close proximity my insides turned to jelly.  What is it about those eyes?  I have not been the same since!”

“A truly lovely man, gorgeous, funny and a whiz in the kitchen.  What more could a girl want?”

Proceeds from the demos went to Rainbow Children’s Hospice and we are told that the tickets could have been

sold ten times over!

“He made sure everyone got his full attention”

MELTON MOWBRAY - Oct 8th

“Three lively demos and not a moments rest in between” was how one lady described James’s day.

“ He went straight from the stage to signing books for hundreds of people, so many that they had to call in security for crowd control”

A member of the audience for his second stint told us, “His demos are so entertaining, he makes the other chefs seem very dull!”

In fact his second show proved to be such an enormous draw that security staff had to close the doors after the start to stop more people squeezing in and overcrowding the theatre.

A veteran of James Martin events said, “he told the usual stories from RSC and the ‘Full Monty’ and we teased him about being seen in the SCD audience the night before”.

After his final demo James acted as ‘porter’ for the Mayor’s charity auction.  He seemed to enjoy the experience, chasing after people who tried to leave, urging everyone to bid more and even buying a couple of the lots himself!

BASINGSTOKE - July 7th

Wearing his ‘trademark’ jacket, but without the jaunty blue rose which he sported at Christchurch, James bounced into Festival Place early on a fairly wet Friday - grateful that he’d been able to have a bit of a lie in as he hadn’t come far.

Fans were treated to four enthralling demos, in one of which James was ‘helped’ by a small lad from the audience.

In a break with the usual rules, tasting was allowed and, as you would expect, the food proved to be as delicious as Yorkshire’s finest made it look.
